how I work

It is entirely up to you what you bring to counselling. It can be a current crisis, a long running behaviour pattern or gaining an understanding of your relationships. Maybe you’re not sure what you want to bring, you just know something needs to change. I aim to provide a warm and safe space in which you can explore whatever is important to you.

I can work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety and self-esteem. I was a care and support worker for 5 years, working with elderly people and disabled people. I can use insights gained working in the care profession to help you talk through any issues involving care and support, including end of life. I am mobile, so if mobility is a problem for you and you are not able to come to me, I can come to you. I am also able to offer Skype, FaceTime or ‘phone sessions.

I trained as an Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, using Person-Centred Therapy as a base and drawing on Gestalt Therapy and some Transactional Analysis. I have completed a diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, so I also use some of that where appropriate. (Please click the link for an explanation of these methods).

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work to their guidelines and ethical framework. I am also signed up to their voluntary register.

I can offer you:

Free initial 30 minute assessment. This can be done face to face, over the ‘phone or by Skype or FaceTime.

Face to face counselling for individuals (adults and children.)

Skype, FaceTime or telephone counselling for individuals.

Short term or longer term work.

Evening sessions available.

Sessions in my counselling rooms or in your own home if mobility is a problem if you are elderly, disabled or any other reason that you might not be able to travel.
